3 years of CoSo!! Good gracious me. What an inspiring experience!

What an interesting group of people that were drawn here from the very first, from the handful of pre-launch nauts troubleshooting the experience, but also having real discussions of how CoSo would be better, would be real and wouldn’t be a dogmatic or explotative space. One that would be more about people than poison...

Of what was at the time an environment on Twitter (and FB of xourse) that was thick with mind-fckery and toxicity. And Bots, propaganda, psychologically designed propaganda and it had become an absolute horror driven by it’s need to pump the stock price and provide a platform for Trump AKA the most grotesque person on the planet.

Enter Jester Actual. I’d been following J since before the election in 2016. What a compellng and fascinating individual...

Our political stance was diametric in many ways. But J had something even more important: It was easy to see he had integrity and had an ethical starting point for who he was and how he moved through the internet (and IRL of course).

In other words he had and has real principles.

My undergrad degree is in Philosophy and ethical codes are a real interest. J is constantly re-evaluating. Hacking ethically requires it or IMHO it can become nihilistic and devoid of meaning.

I don’t mean to embarrass J (sorry J) with all this.

He doesn’t want or need for CoSo to be about him, he’s just creating a sandbox and people (as long as they’re not malicious are free to make it anything they’d like) but it’s difficult to speak about CoSo w/o touching on that.

Anyhow when he began talking about starting his own micro-blogging / twt like site in October 2017, I wanted in, and checked for the announcement and got the advance link and joined...

...joined what became the pre-launch group of what I think was about 75 to 100 accts with maybe 25 of us engaging daily, and becoming friends and bonding. And I’m talking from both sides of the political spectrum. The glue was putting the greater good of the country above ideology, and of course J and the amazing fact there was real dialogue and goodness.

Registration was disabled at that point so there was real concern once CoSo was opened to everyone, it would lead to the..

...lead to the same toxicity showing up from the same ole bad actors (foreign and domestic) intent on creating the same mind-fuckery, and exhausting conflict via massive bot campaigns.

But as usual, ta da...J had a fix, one that seemed really intense at the time in that it involved blocking out IPs from certain bad actor nations who were hosting, or being routed through for BOT campaigns.

But it quickly proved to be dead-on and incredibly effective. As is readily observed..

And the other killer feature was, of course the people here. I don't know if it's that certain kind of people were attracted here or that CoSo brings out the best in people. We all had different reasons for being here, but one thing that seemed a constant is everyone wanted a space that was truly a community based on kindness.

I think it's probably a combination of both of those elements, as well as the collective disgust with Twitter and what it'd led to in a POTUS in 2016...

Although this needs to be stated, not everyone was anti-Trmup.

But everyone, for the most part, was about having a real dialogue and as I said being kind an being a community.

Those principles have remained and CoSo still amazes in the people who come and stay here. And thrive.

People who for example when my father was in his last year were there for me in an amazing way.

But that's CoSo for you.

The pre-launch time wasn't without its hiccups! For example, at one point J accidentally blew up the site and it disappeared like 'POOF"! All gone...and all those new friendships were suddenly in danger of being gone forever. :(

So for 2 weeks it was like ZOMG WTF AAAHHH. 🀣 πŸ˜‚

But it came back and everyone had to re-register but most of the pre-launch crew thankfully got back in...

And I tooted out this to @Keep_Real and the gang:

I think it took an incredible amount of backend design, planning and work (not to mention his own money/funds, so please help out if you can!) for J to set up the robust and responsive infrastructure to make all this a reality.

Thank you yet again, @th3j35t3r, I'm not joking when I say you're fearlessness, intelligence and work ethic is really inspiring.

So finally after what I think was about 6 (or 7?) weeks it was go time and on 11.16.2020, J announced:

More later folks, real life calls...

But in the meanwhile FUCKIN HOORAY FOR COSO!!!!

@TheAbbotTrithemius thanks for sharing! twas touching to be honestπŸ™Œand you hit on some very important points too. and thanks for holding it down in the beginning so the community could grow!

@TheAbbotTrithemius thank you for sharing the early history of , it does show how much time and effort went into creating this sandpit.
