@TeelaResists Because the ruling class buys politicians who pander to their prejudices, need to blame others for their failure, and general stupidity, they vote for those pols because they'll hurt the ppl they're lead to hate
Those pols must then do their owners' work
Plus, moves like that are pandering to the bigotry - seeming to strike out at the "other" groups
Basically, this is herding the stupids who think with their bigotry more than their brains, so vote against their interests
