The House Rs had made fools of themselves throughout 2023, overthrowing their first Speaker choice and then airing their dirty laundry in public before picking one of the weakest Speakers in history.
But, with attention turned to the presidential race in 2024, they'd kept their heads down and, without accomplishing anything, at least had not looked quite as incompetent.
But now they want to shut the government down seven weeks before the election? Is this a suicide pact?
