And now the IT guy is lecturing me about how leaving my clock set to EST will make some programs not work. That is not the problem, my guy, and I need it that way because my deadlines are EST.
And now he thinks it's the HDMI cable. I promise you it is not. The laptop screen also blacks out if I open a file in that program on that screen. It is the software, dude.

This reminds me of one of my first IT managers. They once took me aside, looked me in the eye and said "Remember when your grandma told you about the golden rules? Especially the one about 'If you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all?' Well, there's an addendum to that for IT work. It goes 'If you aren't 1000% sure about the root cause, say nothing until it's fixed.'"
@Synical I've suggested (very politely) that I think it's more likely to be a driver situation or something like that, but he just keeps saying it's the cable or the clock 😂
