@miserable_day Film and solo albums were made simultaneously in spring-summer of '78 and released in the fall (albums September, film in October).

Just listened to Paul Stanley bad mouth just about everyone had been in KISS except for Gene...and himself, of course. He's talking about the movie right now. The band wasn't talking to one another. Ace's body double was black, and he is actually in some of the shots. After the film, that's when they did the solo albums.
