Update on using the XP VM - while I've been able to both install and run the game, it starts up I can go through menu options and start a mission but unfortunately it crashes the VM when it should start the actual game. It is unknown if this is an issue with the game or the VM but that's about all the things I can do without wasting even more time in troubleshooting this shit. It's just not worth it.
