The government expanded eligibility for Medicaid during the COVID pandemic.
@mcfate This is more my argument with state government than the fed. My state is run by assholes.
@Siren_six Because they made it easier to get help during COVID, and now that that's all done with, we go back to our regularly scheduled programming of not getting people who need assistance the medical care they need.
@AskTheDevil But this hilarious part is for years before this like since 2014, our case worker (when we finally got one after a two year long fucking waitlist but that’s a rant for another day) would fill this out for us. Then Covid happens and now it’s all “fuck you, you’re back to doing it yourself” which I did before we got our case worker. Like why the fuck do we even have a case worker at all anymore? It’s all beginning to feel a bit redundant
@Siren_six Unless something makes it a crisis that starts to affect more than just poor people, the way we deal with poor people is to put as little assistance out as possible, and make sure that it is past the staircase with the burnt-out lightbulb, take a left past the surly public worker that hates you and their job (which is to say no), and fill out the paperwork from the rusty filing cabinet in the room with the sign that says "beware of the leopard".
...
@Siren_six
Then, if you don't get the help, they say it's because you didn't do what was necessary to get it. If you really needed it, you'd have known to fill out form 1632-B-102, and make sure NOT to fill out the parts in red that say ALWAYS FILL ALL PARTS IN RED.
It's not _their_ job to do _your_ job for you!
@AskTheDevil Oh I know, they make it impossible to get the help so when you don’t ask for the help that gives them the reason to take the help away from you because you don’t ask for help and if you don’t ask for help you obviously don’t need any - oh hey look at that sexy new aircraft carrier we should totally buy that instead.
@Siren_six As COVID is still a thing, my guess is they're still afraid of catching it, so they'll be providing more services remotely, rather than in person. Just a guess. 😐
This bullshit is why I have trust issues and don’t trust government.
