@IrelandTorin All of the above? 😀
@IrelandTorin I ran Gentoo for many, many years but it's almost all Ubuntu now because that's what I use at work. There's only so much I can keep in my head at the same time. I'm running Win 10 right now on my gaming rig but I liked 7 better. Haven't tried 11 yet but I probably will upgrade at some point. Really liking Monterey on my macs so far.
@ScionAltera Whew, that's hardcore! Never had the patience for Gentoo myself...
Interesting to hear that your work uses Ubuntu! Bet that solves all the problems so many companies have w/ their PCs going into "forced update/reboot" mode in the middle of a presentation or something.
I quit using Windows entirely (previously had a hardly-used dual-boot) sometime around when 10 was released; the telemetry features and forced updates/reboots mean I will _never_ run 10 or later on my machine.
@ScionAltera As for what distro I use... Arch Linux user here, lol.
Not because I'm one of the smug ones, but ironically because I find it MUCH lower-maintenance than any of the "user-friendly" distros. I had nothing but problems running Ubuntu, Mint, or Fedora - but on Arch I rarely run into issues, and when I do they're usually easy to fix.
I don't know _why_ Arch is such a sysadmin's dream to run, exactly; it just is.
@IrelandTorin Yeah, Windows is a tradeoff for sure. I'd prefer not to have ads built into the OS and have it not call home, but I also want to play games and it's still by far the easiest option. So I have a separate machine for it that I don't use for anything else. OSX laptop for personal stuff outside of work, and a mix of all three for work.
@ScionAltera Fun times! Nothing wrong with a little variety :)
What's your favourite Linux distro?
Also your favourite version of Windows?
