IG algorithm for policing posts is bizarre. A fake story was posted, by a person advertising they post satire stories.
People are posting "Is this real?" I responded with "check the bio, all will be revealed." A second later I get a message "Your post has been removed."
Huh? (I didn't want to spoil it for others, so I just directed her to where I got the answer.)
@S_r_stone Parody and snark should be labeled ON THE POST at all times, IMO. Not doing that leads to lots of confusion.
@TrueBloodNet I dunno. If you believe something posted by The Onion then I think that is on you.
If you believe one of the recordings by Blaire Eskine or Brent Tehune then that is on you. When the brand is satire, and the topic is enough for you to even question it, then a tiny bit of research is warranted.
Anyway, whether they should have marked it is beside the point. Why would they remove a response saying "Check the bio"?
@TrueBloodNet Oh, c'mon. "Victim"?
I grant your point about spread of true misinformation. Right here I see left-leaning people spreading memes all too quickly for the same reason RW misinformation spreads, it agrees with their priors.
But people who spread rumors, memes, and unverified stories as fact aren't "victims." We all are accountable for what we choose to spread.
P.S. They are both comedians with fairly popular series of bits playing outraged characters.
