Harrisโs immigration record will be a focus of Trumpโs attacks over the next two months. Letโs unpack a few of his favorite lies.

Trump has normalized fear-mongering to a point where he has a good shot of returning to the presidency campaigning on a platform of โbloodyโ mass deportation.

@carmen @tgraph52 MOST importantly, they don't really want to solve the problem. They just want the political football.
My solution to the problem of illegal immigration would involve making legal immigration much easier for legit asylum seekers.
Never. Yes, never, has immigration failed to boost our economy when we have had a large influx.
It's a win-win opportunity they fear-monger people into believing is win-lose for them.
They seize on every anecdote of immigrant crime to fear monger. But, the vast majority of people have been reliably and voluntarily reporting back as requested without need for detainment.
Point that out, they invariably say "Even one is too many." Where else do we apply that standard? Let's shut down the Catholic church because of abuse by priests. After all, "Even one is too many."
@tgraph52 @S_r_stone That is partially true. If the bipartisan bill on immigration has passed, there would be 2,500 more border agents. That would help is dealing with "surges" at the border. Having more administrative judges and supportive staff would also help in dealing with asylum claims.
@S_r_stone @carmen
I remember a few years ago when the border crisis was being portrayed as a humanitarian crisis... and someone smarter than I clarified that what was really happening was a paperwork backlog crisis that could be managed effectively by providing more resources to the actual problem.
Is that not still true?
