When I am benevolent dictator of the world (or U.S.) we will all use Greenwich Mean Time year round.
No more time changes, no more time conversions. We can move working hours for business or school as desired or leave them alone as desired.
Time is just a number. Let's all get synchronized. It doesn't mean we all have to eat and sleep at the same time.
@S_r_stone It's a lot easier now that most electronics adjusts automatically. The only exceptions in my home are an old Nixie tube clock, the microwave oven, and assorted wristwatches.
But, yeah, still a nuisance.
@Coctaanatis Right, but I have to move international meetings four times a year right now. Time changes happen in both countries but at different times of the year. So the shifting clock creates conflicts though the original time has no conflict.
And our time, mutually inconvenient to all, shifts to ridiculously early or late for some if we don't change it.
I'd settle for year round DST or year round ST.
@S_r_stone I'm with you. My only note would be to use some timezone mostly over ocean where the fewest people live, both to undermine the echos of British supremacy and to avoid favoritism. Alternatively, placing it over the international date line would simplify some things.
I doubt people would stop using local time any time soon. if there was an agreed upon and widely used universal time, though, a lot of life would be simpler for those of us who operate across widely separated time zones.
@S_r_stone
In space, time is all relative.
