Every time you speak up on social media, telling someone what they posted wasn't funny, that those words were not a "joke" and actually hurts people, you teach them that society will no longer tolerate Hate.

@Clintudy Making fun of people is bullying. If you enjoy insult humor, you actually enjoy being mean. Especially when your target is someone who already is treated like sh*t by society. That's punching down, not up.
Humor isn't subjective when it's mean to people who already are treated badly.
@SLWeippert humor is always subjective. What you might not find funny is something another finds hilarious.
And, to use your own logic, punching up is also bullying those in that position. The difference is they almost always laugh and suck it up. In fact, there is an entire genre of comedy specifically dedicated to this: the roast.
I am a fan of George Carlin @Clintudy so I've heard his work. You need to pay attention to WHO Mr. Carlin makes fun of, because I never heard him "punch down for a laugh."
@SLWeippert while I support the idea, unfortunately humor is highly subjective and not only that, it is often meant to break barriers and taboos and bring light to them. Look at Bill Burr, or George Carlin, or Richard Pryor... I all offensive to many groups, but not in a mean spirited way
