Update on my 1940 Singer 201 in art deco table. Known as the "Rolls-Royce" of sewing machines, even today it's a hard one to beat. 1,100 stitches per minute, and she purrs. Today I finished up some cleaning, lubricating, and touching up. Her flywheel is off in these pictures, but she's all back together now. I took her for a little test drive. She'll speed up & quiet down as her motor warms up, but for now I just wanted the TriFlow to permeate.

@Agatha My is even older. I found it at a junk sale. We looked at the innerds and lubricated with glee, bought a new belt, and wow: it is a lot of fun to make it go. And indeed, the purring beats the sound of any electrical machine.

@Rixt

I have a treadle Howe from the 1870s. I can't say it purrs, but the "ca-thunk ca-thunk" is the sound of the Victorian industrial age, and that tickles my brain in just the right place! ❀️
