So I just started this job Iโm in now about a month ago and for the most part I like it. That said I feel the training Iโve received has been incredibly poor. Literally 7 days of shadowing someone do maybe a dozen things and then thatโs it, into it full time. Itโs a complex job, thereโs a lot to learn and yet I constantly feel like I am expected to know everything. If I ask for help or want to know the answer to a question I get huffed and chuffed at or eyes get rolled and Iโm made to feel 1/
I think with the right training and time I could do the job well but right now I feel like I have no support and the only person here makes me feel like a waste of space. I really donโt know if this is the job for me. 3/3
@Ravenlock *your situation even ๐
@RichChappo thanks Rich, that means a lot. I keep hoping thatโll get better over time because for hours and pay itโs not a bad job and if I can make it work for me then even better.
@Ravenlock I'm sure you're more than capable and you'll figure out a way to make it work.
@Ravenlock Sounds exhausting and demoralizing. Ask her for a meeting. Lay out what you need to be able to do the job. A leader will take your feedback on board and make sure you get what you require. Or else she isn't a competent leader and won't give you the opportunity to succeed. Then you'll have done what you can to handle it like a boss - even if the boss doesn't.
I recommend you check out Ask a Manager website for more tips. Good luck ๐
@Ravenlock I saw this post and I sympathize. It's a situation I've been in myself. I feel that standards of training in workplaces have dropped drastically over the years. I don't really have any pearls of wisdom to offer but I hope you're situation improves.
