Found out yesterday that I will needing a bad wisdom tooth to be removed sometime this next week or two. The pain it’s causing is no picnic….it fucking hurts! Today was an improvement then yesterday due to antibiotics and prednisone so they are helping. But the cure-all to end all will be a tooth extraction which I look forward to as pulling out my own teeth….oh wait….my own hair out, not that there’s much to pull at the moment. 😅

@Punisher1976

My 💚 with you. Teeth issues have haunted me all my life. Soon that tooth will be gone.

@LnzyHou Thank you Lindsay. I appreciate the empathy. And the tooth is on my upper left side which will be hard to get to. Never needed a tooth to be extracted so yes I am a little anxious and frustrated. Any ideas how long it could be for recovery? It’s just the one tooth.

@Punisher1976

Not long. Keep rinsing gently with warm salt water afterwards. No sucking. Gently rinse. Frequently.

You’ll be glad it’s gone.

@LnzyHou Oh I think I’m already feeling that way. Right now it feels like someone was jabbing me a red hot ice pick….any relief from this junk would be a wonder. 😅🥺

@Punisher1976

My wisdom teeth were embedded in the roof of my mouth. You don’t want to hear that horror story. Suffice to say, there was blood on my clothes and his before it was over.

@LnzyHou it was real deal hospital surgery back then no in the office and out the door stuff

@LnzyHou Oooh….nasty! Sorry to hear about. I had a friend who had get not just one but TWO root canals done almost at the same time on the same side of mouth. He was suffering for a few weeks on that one. Not just the pain but the price….he didn’t have insurance so I can’t imagine what that would have cost him.

@Punisher1976 All 4 of my wisdom teeth were removed when I was in the Navy. It's what they did back then, so you didn't run into a dental issue while deployed, It wasn't fun, yet as I recall, recovery was short (a matter of days) and uneventful. Good luck!

@SSNBubblehead Much appreciated. This would only be for one tooth, upper left hand side. I definitely plan to take a few extra days off for it from work just to be safe.

@Punisher1976 I had the 2 uppers extracted after they became infected 1 year apart, about 10 years ago. The roots were curled back down and not deep, so my dentist was able to just grab them and rock each of them out without too much trouble. He just gave me novocain and it was fine. Rinse as directed and no sucking (straws, cigarettes, etc.) They had always been difficult to brush properly as they grew pointing a bit outward toward the cheeks. Good riddance! Best of luck!
