This Mother's Day was spent in Midland, MI at my mother-in-law's place. She has a pretty secluded 10 acre forest patch. So I took my camera to do a little bird watching.
@Pepstar I haven't seen a large woodpecker in years, but one year in Tuscaloosa a male red bellied woodpecker was frequenting our bird feeder. We kept it full of sunflowers seeds, which he loved. He would come flying in and, wham, the bird feeder would be rocking while he gobbled down the seeds. Approximately half a second before he hit, all the little birds would scatter like flour when you slam your fist down on a cutting board. After he left, the chickadees were quickest to return.
