I have a friend that has been keeping a count of the mass shootings in the USA and the number he posted yesterday is giving me the chills. 254 shootings, in 160 days. This isn't the country I love anymore, it hasn't been for nearly half my life. But I'd like it to become a country I can love.

What's worse is that there's some firearm workers in the industry that are firing up warnings on twitter that it's possible that the Pride parades nationally might be the next targets for mass shootings, given light of some of the customer chatter they've been hearing at work. I am deeply fearful that my existence as a trans person, and my family, may become the next target too locally. I'm not out publicly in my region of the country, and things like this, makes me deeply afraid.

@PaganMother the rednecks on nazidoor tried to pool together 30K for "Jesus" to erect a 120ft statue of a cross in an illegal code loophole off Hwy 25.

They couldn't come up with the money tho

@PaganMother yeah they don't like me none too much... but nextdoor only represents 5% of the population here. I bout got it to 10% until nextdoor pissed me off.

@kg_diamonds I stay clear of using Nextdoor cause of the number of ignorant folk that live in my part of upstate rural Michigan. I live pretty far from village and about an hour away from any real city limit, but that fear isn't helping my agoraphobia at all.
