one of the things about my autistic brain is that it will not shut up... so, in order to fall asleep, i try to force it to tell me stories. last night i forgot to turn the heat on in the bedroom, so it was somewhere around 55F(12C) when i went to bed. i can't sleep when i'm cold. it took 3 hours to get warm enough to fall asleep
meanwhile, my brain is trying to remember what it was like being a gay male in the early 1800s....

I'm also autistic and have the same problems. I have an imaginary place that I go to when I'm all tensed up trying to sleep. It's a place with no people, just a river, wildlife, trees, grass, and a bench that serves also as a bed. I find that if I lay on that bed to sleep I calm down and get to sleep fast.
