I was feeling a little out of it yesterday--gaining a serious allergic reaction to Jingoism, methinks. All the people wavering between "let's goooo!" and "that's it?!" had me sick to my stomach, but I know the armchair-warrior eagerness for war is just another form of trauma.

Here was Tough Times Tuesday: a reflection on how much we need to adjust to life under climate change.

Today's piece will come later. It's a tough one, on how we've abused the memories of the dead.

@MLClark GOod morning ML! It's a joy to see you.

I am grateful for all you share, and the depth of your analysis. Your words are sorely needed in the world and I am glad you are sharing them.

What happened yesterday in the middle east felt like a dam breaking to me. There has been such a feeling of worried anticipation that Iran was going to do something.

It was nothing I was looking forward too, just a sad resignation that it will probably get worse before it gets better.

@NiveusLepus

Good morning, Becca! 🤗

I'm grateful for the words you've shared, and your presence today as on all days.

How did you wake this morning? Where does the world find you? Are you in a phase of rest & recovery, or already on the bounce to your next big adventure?

I knew Iran was essentially going to do what it had done in April, but I also remember how poorly the media prepared folks for grasping what was going on then too. The need for exciting clickbait came first!

(Still does.)

@MLClark You are a source of continual joy in my life!

I am tired. I stayed up late to watch the debate with Coso buddies.

Currently I'm in Texas visiting my parents till the 8th, then I go back to Virginia to help a buddy with a move, then I'm back home for two days before going to Orlando with my husband on a business trip.

It's been a busy time. It always kind of is for me. I am a wander beast.

@MLClark One of my favorite movies is Good Night and Good Luck. Its about Edward R Murrow, one of the legendary journalists.

"The fault dear Brutus lay not in our stars but in ourselves"

The peril of mass communication, for all its promise is the sensationalization and commoditization of the news.

All hail the 24 hour news cycle.

It was not necessarily better in the old days, but we are definitely in a yellow journalism period as we learn to navigate our changing digital landscape.
