I made a driving error. No one was hurt nor was I ticketed but it shook me hard. I work very hard to be safe but I misinterpreted the signal. Praise the Gods it was just a mistake and not an accident.

I think many of us, if we survive long enough, have a few of those near misses. I call them Soul Shudders :)

They are lessons. That's the positive thing we can take from them :)

@ceorl indeed ! I will grow better. This was a gentle reminder from the Gods to watch the traffic patterns im not used to more closely. . My intersection was clear. I just misread the light at the last second.

Also in an unfamiliar car.

Perhaps you will feel better to hear that I once destroyed a rental car at the gas station next to the rental place as I was about to return it.

I backed into one of those concrete and steel bollards they have protecting the pumps, and made the car totally undriveable :)

Lesson: Always buy the bonus insurance for rental cars :)

@ceorl oh indeed. I’m feeling better but my anxiety isn’t letting me forget that I wasn’t perfect today. It will pass. I’m a professionally trained driver and very safe. Every one has done this.

I recognize I have this anxiety because I care so much about being safe. I will observe and treat my anxiety mindfully and let it pass.
