I got very curious yesterday about what the "Trans" meant in relation to Transylvania... Turns out its a winding road from the original term "Ultra" in ancient latin.
It all translates to "Beyond" so "Beyond the Woods" referring to the ancient frontiers of the Roman Empire.
Neat!
