When updating a website... why do people feel the need to change the layouts and the font sizes and everything that made the website easy to look at?

Bank changed their design and now everything's spaced out way too far, there's suprflous information on every transaction, the date are two different fonts and sizes... like, everything that's bad design and aethsetic...

they also reordered how the accounts display, so the account I never use is the one that comes up first?
