Ok. Bird feeders are de-snowed and refilled. Hummingbird feeder has been cleaned off, rinsed and refilled. It'll go back out when the syrup cools a little.
Finnegan has been fetched from the yard again - he's equal parts fascinated and horrified by the floofy white stuff. He's an apricot point Siamese - next to the snow he looks orange all over.
Now, time for a hot chocolate and breakfast.
Do you have hummingbirds overwinter in your area? Ours migrate south for the winter. I 💜 hummingbirds. I have honeysuckle vines growing up the sides of the front porch to attract the beautiful little birds up close.
Ah! Here in the Midwest we have ruby throated hummingbirds, which are migratory (and mighty!). They have an amazingly long migration for such tiny creatures. It is a miracle of nature that they can do it. I don’t think they could survive our winters - very cold, no flowers, no insects - and even feeders would freeze solid. But I look forward to their arrival each spring and plant many flowers with them in mind - I try to have something in bloom for them from spring through autumn.
