@WeThePeople

It’s about time!

Many years ago I founded a Boy Scout troop in a small town, and we were multi-cultural and multi-faith. We also did at least one outdoor adventure per month.

We let families go along on camping trips, and had several sisters who preferred our troop to the local Girl Scout troop. The GS’s planned shopping trips to big cities when we went canoeing in the Boundary Waters. 🙄

Several girls asked if they could join. They need to modify their name to Scouts.

@Myrth @WeThePeople They can't modify the name to just Scouts due to an agreement made 100 years ago when Boy Scouts tried to get Girl Scouts shutdown

There are other naming options, but neither group is allowed to just use 'Scouts'

@Myrth @WeThePeople @lufthans the UK scouts don't have this problem as Baden Powell gave the label Girl Guides to the ladies.

UK scouts have accepted young people since the early 90s and it became national policy in 2007.
