Is there guidance on an MMR booster.. when I saw a travel nurse (before china trip) she told me MMR last only about 20 years.. so I got a booster..
Good point. I wonder if I should look into getting a booster shot. My 20 years of immunity expired about 30 years ago! Hmm. I don’t recall at what age I got my last booster. But suffice it to say, I was a kid. I’m a grandma now.

When there’s herd immunity, people don’t have to worry so much about such things. But due to anti-vaxxer stupidity there’s no longer decent herd immunity.
So, there is a recommended schedule for adult vaccines. All I have ever gotten are tetanus boosters and the annual flu vaccine. Funny, my doctor NEVER mentioned any need for others...

I've been wondering if I should look into a booster, too. I've had Tdap boosters and I get flu every year, but I don't remember ever getting MMR as an adult.

Adult chicken pox is horrible. I got chicken pox my freshman year of college.
@Myrth I had it when I was 5... don't want to revisit it as an adult. Hope my immunity holds.

What’s really awful is shingles, which is caused by the chicken pox virus that apparently lies dormant in your body for decades after the chickenpox infection.

@ucantstop_me There's some quiz on the CDC that told me I should get the MMR booster. So I guess that's going on my to-do list...

PS. I called around, at least here in my area, Bi-Mart has it for uninsured price of $107 and Walmart has for $87.
I am also going to check with our county health department. They do all sorts of vaccinations, including ones for travel, and someone mentioned they were cheaper.

Okay! So! This is probably useful to folks.
I went down to the pharmacy and asked if I could get the MMR - but they found my vaccination records (87 and 00) and said I didn't need to get it again.
Everything they found said that as long as you've had 2 doses of MMR, you're good to go. Even if you had a bit of a gap between the two (as I did). Mumps might need a 3rd booster, but measles doesn't seem to.
