We often talk about the "dirty" side of a tropical cyclone being on the right/east side.
Using the winds layer in the app, it's pretty easy to see how much more powerful the winds are on the eastern side of Hurricane #Helene.
The right side (particularly in the right-front quadrant) is where you often find the strongest winds and the threat of tornadoes.
@MyRadar For those who don't know, this is due to the forward motion of the storm being added to the winds, which increases the wind speed. If sustained winds are howling at 75 mph and the storm is moving at 15 mph, then the winds on the right side will be more like 90 mph, while they decrease by the same amount on the left. 🙂
