@Keysalagain this has come up before, this was my answer then, and still applies now: Shelley was 21. Also, Frankenstein is complex. It is equally, if not more so, gothic horror. I can only imagine the slight is unintentionally given, as Wells is used as a purely science fiction author. As for science fiction elements... if we count elements, there are many debatable sources of proto science fiction. Many of them predate Shelley by years, decades, and centuries. I do love Shelley though
