Hmm. I was looking up the word meaning/origin of the name of the faith called Presbyterian. Like, where does that name come from? It certainly doesn’t sound Gaelic.

Most answers say the word comes from the Greek word πρεσβύτερος (presbyteros), meaning “elder.” That makes sense.

The OED however all alone says “Presbyterian is a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element.” If you want to see more, you need an account.

So much for the OED being the standard bearer for the language.
