@Mrs_Bones @Heucuva8 Hi! Iβm working on an article about Solstice celebrations in different cultures. @Klaatu_Verata_Nectarine suggested you guys might be able to point me toward some sources. Any recommendations? Thx!
@Heucuva8 @Mrs_Bones Hi! Thx for responding. My piece will be about 1250 words, so must be focused. My audience is general--but smart & open-minded. I can write a para on history/culture but would like to include some ideas about how to celebrate the solstice on a personal level. Maybe a nice photo, a prayer, or suggestion for a family. Cool too if contemporary pagan practices included.
This time of year, Yule, is a major Sabbat and Holiday for many (but not all) Pagans.
At Yule festivals, such as the one my Wife and I are attending this weekend upcoming, there are costume/masquerade Balls, feasts and dinners, often bonfires, divination, altars/rituals, USUALLY alcohol, games etc, just like with Christian or Secular celebrations.
I wanna get #CoSoPagans (especially folks like @jaunty and @rowenna) to give input as well.
@Heucuva8 Iβm not much on outward celebrations, but I do internal work at these times, working with the Goddess in Her many forms. ππββοΈ @rowenna @Mj_Osa @Mrs_Bones #cosopagans
Cool! So, one resource that I've found to be really interesting, in light of the modern era, is "Wiccapedia" by Leanna Greenaway and Shawn Robbins.
*Wiccapedia: A Modern-Day White Witch's Guide https://g.co/kgs/UYNPES
It includes some very interesting uses for technology. Electronic Book of Shadows, Digital apps for tracking moon cycles, reading tarot/divination, etc.
As for specific practices, most of the basics still apply today from antiquity, just modernized.
