@insomniacviolin I'm sorry to hear that your dog is going through this. No anti-seizure meds available?
I am so sorry to hear this (I love dogs just as much as cats if not more).
Is gabapentin not effective for dogs? Serious question: I know it's safe for most mammals (humans can take an impossibly high amount in mg/kg)?
Again, not a veterinarian, but...would benzodiazepines be indicated? Less toxic than phenobarbital, I'd wager.
I'm so sorry to hear you & your pup are going through this 😔
@netspionage @MisterE she's had benzos and gaba
@insomniacviolin Best wishes for a recovery out of this.
@MisterE @netspionage unfortunately we will probably have to put her down. She has some bad neuro damage after this.
I'm soo pissed off that mom guilt tripped saying I was making our other dog die faster when I talked to the vet about the dosing about his meds and here we are with our other dog that they don't even treat a life threatening condition.
Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear this 😢
While I doubt it, let me know if there is anything I can do or say to help you through this difficult time.
I take pet loss...*very* badly, myself. When my Akita died, I had to take time off from work as I was just a total wreck.
I...don't see any shame in that (though shame away if you like).
I'm so sorry 😢
@netspionage @MisterE she's had 5 seizures in 2 hours and mom and dad don't want to take her in to doggy ER to make her more comfortable. I am LEGIT PISSED
Understandably so 🤬
@insomniacviolin It's the sad part of having pets. Good luck with this.
@MisterE no she's had a bunch. She had a loooooong first seizure this afternoon that mom and dad didn't think she was going to make it through so they didn't seek care and still haven't sought care so guess who is sitting up with her
