The difference? Bad-faith actors who promote a culture of shamelessness through fantasy denialism and baseless lies, disinformation, and conspiracy theories.
It's never been about "free speech", and they know it. That's just their cowardly excuse to sow ignorance and hate without repercussions. Such ignorance and hate has morphed into a national security threat.
