We need to stop talking about Trump's prosecution as if he were a former head of state. He was illegally installed by Putin and at no point was he ever legitimately US President. The whole thing was a coup since 2016. Prosecuting Trump is more akin to prosecuting Jefferson Davis.
Being a "former head of state" gets you no more in court than "campaigning for President" does, as judges are increasingly pointing out.

He won the Electoral College with 78,000 votes in three states.
Putin could not make that happen.
This is just the flip side of election denial. Sometimes you just lose.
