Anybody else NOT have a laptop anymore? I retired few years back and just use my iPhone for everything.

@Meri
Don't use mine much. Maybe once a week

@Meri

When the battery in my newer laptop started to swell, I swore off computers that have their own power.

I'm on a Mac Mini now. I never even OPENED the stupid laptop any more, just ran it attached to a 27-inch monitor.

I had a friend who ran his laptop with Battery removed on AC and only used the battery when he was outside

In the newer MacBook Pros, the battery is a unitary assembly that includes the KEYBOARD.

Keeps things slim, which is what consumers demand.

@mcfate @Meri

Oh my! I can understand the reason for that but would never feel comfortable with a battery integrated like that.

I always buy a laptop with the largest screen possible though. Since I'm editing photos on it I want as much screen real estate as possible. Slim isn't a priority for me.

@AndersonArtwork @Meri

The reason I had laptops in the first place was that I was traveling about a quarter-million miles a year. Thirteen-inch screens. Thin as possible.

I'd go to Japan for a MONTH with nothing but a backpack and a carry-on bag.

@mcfate

Thin would be a huge benefit in that situation. Form follows function and what a blessing it is to have options!

@Meri

@AndersonArtwork @mcfate @Meri On the earlier Mac laptops with removable batteries, the system would run at reduced power if the battery was removed.

@Meri I have one but I don't use it that often. I prefer my phone for most things.

@Meri
Nice to have the world fit in the palm of your hand!
I mostly use my phone and IPad.

I just use my laptop for writing.
