To the conservative brain, there is only one right answer, and any other is unthinkable. It's not a question of actual popularity.
The last poll I saw, the percentage of people in favor of abortion on demand is greater than the percentage in favor of abolition. Of all the fringe positions, his party is pushing the fringiest. But facts don't matter.
