Wow, wasn't tracking this BSA abuse...

WHEN THE Boy Scouts of America in February sought bankruptcy protection amid a wave of sexual abuse lawsuits, the organization said it expected at least another 1,400 claims from men and boys alleging they had been victimized over decades. On Monday, the deadline set by a federal bankruptcy court for filing claims, the number had reached more than 95,000.

Liquidation would be an unhappy outcome for an organization revered by many, yet if it comes to pass, it would result from the Boy Scouts’ own callous disregard for the well-being of minors under its care over many decades. The cost to the organization may be ruinous; the cost to many thousands of lives is incalculable.
