Besides living for 37 years, what in your life have you done for that long.

I served for 37 years, continuously from Jan 10, 1974 to Feb. 10, 2011. Across 5 decades...

Went into the Service in '74 as I had graduated college in '72 with a liberal arts degree in Sociology and finding it wasn't worth jackshit in the labor market, I enlisted from Florida. Served 3 years active, went into the Reserves while in grad school full-time and then OCS in '79.

Serving saved me, as it saves many of us.

My closest veteran friend is a woman -- well, mind you, I am friends with several, and try not to play favorites, but she's the one I've talked to the most.
I have great respect for her.

And in talking to her, I understand it can be complicated. It's very messy sometimes! But isn't anything worth doing complicated? And I know it's done out of love, too. Without getting too personal, it saved her too.

And Thank You! 💜

The Services force change in all of us...

Most of us recognize the need for getting tasks done in a structured environment, some learn how to cope, some just learn new ways to fight structual changes.

Veterans know life, they don't always make the best life decisions.

@Madken65
The structure thing is true, and it's one of the things I admire most about the military. Just the mission focus ability, it's amazing to me.

And I can assure you, plumbers don't always make the best life decisions, either, or any profession! I hope you know what I mean.
