Slept about two hours. Soon, I will have to explain to my kids, again, that their country is about to take a very bad turn., and apologize to them for the future they about to endure. I'll tell you this, my daughter will NEVER go any place unaccompanied again. She's 13 and I have to start walking her to the bathroom in restaurants again. If any of you live in central Indiana, just know that me and my family are allies and our home is a safe place. We all need to circle the wagons right now.

I feel like I let them down. it is the first time in their lives (13,15,20) that I have felt I can't do anything to fix what's broken. i just told my 15 "keep living you're life as you are, because you're perfect in an imperfect world" and it felt like empty words in a vacuum.

I'll bet that's frustrating! A father gets used to being able to fix everything, protect them from all harm.
I know how it feels, Mom and her 2nd husband live on a fixed income, and I can't help them in GA while I'm helping Dad here in CO.
Those are certainly transformational ages, not a great time for this stuff. But kids are incredible! They have a way of adapting to new realities better than we can.
And you sound like just the kind of father to guide them through it! ❤️
@MPCavalier
I don't have kids of my own, but can imagine at least how you must feel right now. 💔
I agree, time to circle the wagons. I think we need to work toward things like secure communications networks and modern-day underground railroads.
