Cool, but if you're gonna use the tag and bring it up, may as well link it properly, eh? 🙂

I have a question. Is linking to youtube kind of an informal rule? Personally I don't do it because I don't like driving traffic to specific services. I usually post the artist/title and the album cover, and folks can decide for themselves if and how to stream. I was always unsure about the youtube thing.

Oh, sorry, I wasn't meaning to tell ppl how to do things—it's up to you how you use the tags, if at all.

But to really answer the question, YouTube tends to be linked often/most because it will embed & ppl can listen/watch w/o clicking out (though it's buggy). Some other services do the same, but frankly YT has the benefit of a large # of results & common use.

If you don't wanna link to anyone, NBD. Many ppl won't bother looking up stuff that isn't linked, tho. 🤷‍♀️

Cool and thank you! I didn't want to break any community standards. I'm an Apple Music user, and I know a lot of people aren't! I don't think I ever even use youtube!

Bandcamp is great for artists that are on there making their living. YouTube obviously has a much wider catalog. I find there's a large milddle-ground swath of artists between the big names (e.g. Nine Inch Nails) & the everyday ppl (hi, @stueytheround, @lilyunsub 👋) I just can't find there, tho.

I know many ppl prefer using or other artist-based sites for their 🎼 posts, & I totally support that. I was only explaining why YT may seem dominant.

I probably purchase 80% of my music from Bandcamp. it's like the best indie record store in the world.

I post plenty of YT links too. I do look for other sources first. Vimeo sometimes has 'em, and those are sometimes raw(er) edits, which can be fun.
