My family member returned from their volunteer assignment in FL, having helped in a variety of ways before and after the hurricane.
They are changed, a little more brokenhearted than before.
I think many helpers work with chronically broken hearts…that’s how their hearts remain open to the suffering they encounter.
Pain seeps in, love seeps out through the cracks.
