Whelp, just had my closest call while dog walking at night.
I wear the same sort of reflective vest road workers wear, plus a blaze orange knit cap, plus a 4 D-cell Mag-lite which I have enhanced with an aftermarket LED bulb which gives it an absolutely painful focused beam.
Also, we are always outside the white line on the side of the road.
Still a car just locked up their brakes 10 feet in front of me.
I don't worry too much about the diseases of aging, as I am more likely to be roadkill.
Good grief, what a fright for both you and your animal familiar. I hope you mind the mental and emotional come-down from a shock like that. It can linger for days as a stress response. 🫂
Funny coincidence, my yoga teacher has been mostly MIA since a truck plowed through the wall of her house in the middle of the night.
She didn't get hit, but has been introspecting a lot since.
Those moments really bring a lot out of us! The sudden realization that everything could have stopped then and there.
But didn't!
Every moment, every breath, a gift - even the really hard ones.
@MLClark
Yes, a bit of yoga will get my sympathetic nervous system back to nominal levels.
And next time I will wear my headlamp as well, maybe in flashing mode.
Although, it sounds like a Jester-ism to say, you don't see what you're not looking at. ;)
