It's just racism, xenophobia, and related ethnoreligious tension all the way down.

I preferred when it was turtles. 😡

(Please no one tell me the turtles were racist, too.)

@MLClark It seems to be a common energy many of us are experiencing lately.💙

I've said this before, TK, but at this point I have watched thousands of videos of rape, kidnapping, torture, murder, and wartime scenes and their aftermath (mostly, to confirm or contest claims spreading like wildfire), but *nothing* gets me down like seeing the glee with which people celebrate or diminish suffering from their armchairs, or whip up more hatred for their gamified cause.

It's hard to hope for a better world while the propaganda of violence reigns. And it does.

@MLClark As unfeeling as this may sound, all humanity needs to be humbled. Even those who are striving to be better. In my opinion we've allowed too many external influences to do our tasks, our writing, our informing, our thinking, etc...

What makes us who we are is becoming lost in an ocean of apathy and convenience.

@MLClark It's like we're trying to take humanity, that which makes us human, completely out of the equation.🤷‍♂️

Sadly, the very concept of "humanity" is fairly new. Global consciousness was something Queen Isabella I of Spain first tried to draft into law to establish Indigenous people in the Americas (a shock to Europe) as citizens, too. And that sure as heck didn't take! Then we struggled with laws of decency beyond borders over the last 200 years of war, with a UN Declaration launched in 1948 to no real worldly effect.

"Humanity" is a great concept.

But when did we ever achieve it?

@MLClark We can't even get the humane part going. We may be here for awhile...or maybe not.
