I doubt I'm the only one feeling super low this morning. Our world is shaped by a lot of malevolence, stupidity, and entrenched mediocrity, and personally, I find it hard to care about most things I once did anymore. Lost a lot of interest & ambition these last few years. Biggest "goal" is a nice day in the park, since I can't fix anything else.

Anyway. One more day on this editing project. 4 chaps and a read-through, then out it goes.

Hold on to yer hearts.

@MLClark

Malevolence, stupidity, and entrenched mediocrity. You summed it up perfectly.

I can only hope the coming darkness will make us ache for the light so badly we'll wake up and fight. Especially against the mediocrity. We need to call that one out instead of looking the other way and pretending it isn't happening.

@LiseL

I wholeheartedly agree, Lise. I'm glad that my workflow this week meant I'd have to put off my Thursday post for the weekend; I want to be able to muster all the clarity I can when sifting through the slew of news these last few days (and waiting on today's SCOTUS). I've switched topics thrice already, just trying to wrap my head around the despair manifesting in Kenya, the EU, and the US alike: differently, but all tied into the same need for massive rethinks around systems of power.

@MLClark

Yep. The despair we feel needs to be turned into fuel. I don't know how that's going to happen, but it has to happen. We need to speak the truth about what we're seeing, and amplify those few voices in journalism and politics who do the same. I look forward to reading your next piece.
