Today, for paid subscribers, I talk about three perks of writing news and cultural analysis independently, in contrast with writing under the shelter of formal media organizations.
(Meanwhile, an opening anecdote from Abbott Elementary is free to read, and reflects on the perils of taking ourselves too seriously in this line of independent work!)

Knowing your style and fantastic sense of humour, I WELCOME whatever generative AI spits out in response to your prompts. :)
@MLClark hmmm, how do you characterize my style?
Spontaneously witty with a slice of "yes I went there" goofball, all backed by a lot of political savvy, so that it's clear even your silliest moments are well-earned by life in this 🦇 💩 timeline: just another part of riding the wave of everyday BS without getting wet. 😉
@MLClark riding the wave and running between the acid rain drops of our “interesting” times. I appreciate your take and staying here after I’ve “went there”.
Well SOMEBODY has to "go there", no? 🙃 And have you seen the size of my "roar"? Embarrassing. Couldn't knock a beetle off its perch if I tried.
Glad to share this quirky corner of our flea-bitten world with wits like you. 👌
@MLClark likewise. And then there’s the pondering of how our various societies will navigate from what is and all the shitty isness (authoritarianism, Christo-fascism, toxic dancing with Thanatos pollution and such). And like Europe during WWII this platform is like the resistance enclaves of the intellectuals, creatives, empaths, and others loosely affiliated. Or as Ellison would put it “you’re not alone kiddo”.
@MLClark I reserve the right to respond with AI (actual insights).🙂
