This week's going to be a weird one on the newsletter.
Tomorrow I reflect on an example of more lucid conservative media to highlight the normal political spectrum lost to lunacy.
Tuesday I'm torn between grim commodities news or some chaotic geopolitics.
Wednesday I'm torn between a tale of mid-century extremists and how hard it is to talk about history now without it being weaponized.
So... Thursday I'm leaving open, for something nice to come along. There's still nice in the world, right?
Infuriating.
There *was* a way for him to advance a useful conversation about the cost of petroleum mining in Guyana - but that conversation would have started with a full, upfront acceptance of the crimes of more industrialized economies, and led to an empathetic ask of Irfaan Ali: "What can we in the West do to support Guyana in not making the same deal with the devil, longterm, that continues to plague our nations even now?"
Instead he chose arrogance and condescension!
@MLClark big agree.
The useful conversation is sorely needed - unfortunately it'll require a humility and a stance... none with the power are willing to concede?
@MLClark most welcome. Gets my blood going... the "does that give you the right" interruption 🤬
