Shockingly, it is really hard to finish writing pieces for a site I know is going dormant next Thursday, then disappearing a few weeks thereafter.
When we get an export of all our articles, I'll be rehosting them on a revamped version of my website, rather than on my Substack, so that I can organize them better by topic - which I hope will help when pitching to future publications.
My essay on CoSo will disappear when the site does, but I'll be sure to put up a link to its new home then, too.
@MLClark Think of it as portfolio fodder?
That is indeed what it will be!
I unfortunately made the mistake this week of compiling lists of relevant publications for possible pitching... almost none of which have money attached, or open submissions lists.
We're living in an extremely precarious moment for media funding across the board.
We'll transition! Become a beautiful moth living gloriously in the post-apocalyptic shadows of so-called civilization!
But first, the chrysalis phase is hard. And itchy.
Thank you, though. π€
@MLClark Just not a Calyptra moth, ok?
@MLClark I'm sorry to be so ignorant, but which site is going dormant?
Oh, I must've missed this yesterday - sorry about that. Formal notice will go out Thursday, but OnlySky will be closing then. Thus the need to re-house my content elsewhere, including an essay on CoSo that folks here have kindly shared with others. I wish I had a nice new home for it - and that the overall media industry were in better straits - but I'll make sure it's as cleanly presented as it can be on my site, when I get the export of all my work for OS in a few weeks.
Cheers!
@MLClark Thank you and no need to apologize! I miss a lot because CoSo moves so quickly.
I have read many of your thoughts here and enjoy your wordcraft. I had never heard of OnlySky, so I just looked at your blog there. I see some topics I believe you've shared here :) I hope your own site will be successfully running soon.
π Can someone put me in touch with the musicians who kept on playing on the Titanic? Maybe they'll have tips for workflow. π
