Quick stretch-aroo, then back to writing. (I figured out what I needed from my main POVs, so hopefully the rewrite comes easily now.)

QUESTION:

Let's say you're on a Star Trek episode as the alien-of-the-week.

You're playing a member of a new species, which is based on your name (or username), personality, and interests:

What's your species called, what's its deal, and why's it running into a Starfleet crew?

πŸ––

@LiseL, I'm tagging you just in case you miss this and want to answer when you're next on. I imagine you'd make a fun alien-of-the-week design!

@MLClark
We are the Jinjas. We are a species of leech with curly orange fur who gorge ourselves on soundwaves. We are noted* for being bad tempered when hungry. Music is our favourite food.
We heard Data playing the violin and were inexorably drawn toward the delicious notes.
We wanted to take Data away with us so that we could feast on his audio-nomic delights, but instead, Picard gave us an old record player.

*pun intended

@stueytheround

🀣 Something about this episode has Cat from Red Dwarf all over it. I love it.

I can just see the bridge scene where Picard asks your demands after you've menaced the Enterprise, and then Riker bursts out incredulously, "Data?!" and the camera cuts to this classic shot. :)

@MLClark

I am an exiled Organian, a member of a very long lived species. Set adrift in space, alone, within a space ship that can provide all my basic needs for centuries. I was exiled for the crime of extreme empathy, rationality, and forbearance. My species is highly war like, and combativeness is seen as a virtue. In a moment of rare mercy they sentenced me to exile rather than death.

@corlin

I could 100% see some aboard the Enterprise trying to figure out if you need anything, and if all that time alone has somehow traumatized you into not being able to accept aid. Their "journey" in the episode would entail coming to peace with the fact that you're perfectly fine as you are, thank-you-very-much, and finally pressing on. πŸ‘Œ

@MLClark

Yes, and before the crew left, they programed my replicator with many new fine foods and drinks. Along with a large database of federation literature.

@corlin

Throw in some Klingon opera, and it sounds like you're set for life. :)

@MLClark

My species is the LiAenar, a subspecies of Aenar on Andoria who make and share art using only empathic telepathy.

Archer hears the LiAenar are nearly extinct, so despite T'Pol's warnings, they set out with inadequate clothing to the iciest part of Andoria to see if they can find a LiAenar hiding among the reclusive Aenar. But then it gets really cold, and naturally T'Pol and Archer snuggle to survive, lose consciousness and awaken among the LiAenar. Lessons are learned. 🀷 πŸ––

@LiseL

🀣🀣🀣 I love that you chose the horniest Trek. I can just see the debrief after:

"So, how were the LiAenar? Was their art everything it's made out to be?"

Archer: "The who?"

*cutting say-nothing look from T'Pol*

Archer: "Ohhhh, THOSE LiAenar. 😁"

@MLClark

Let's just say they had to spend some time in the decon chamber when they got back to the ship. πŸ˜‚

@LiseL

Remember, kids! Life's about the journey, not the destination - unless we're counting the decon chamber, in which case it's all about choosing your decon buddy well. πŸ˜…

@MLClark

πŸ’― (And personally, I don't choose Phlox.) πŸ˜‚

@MLClark

πŸ€” Do you have a species in mind for yourself?

@LiseL

The Emelians live on a planet forever caught in a narrow multiverse bubble, which poses logistical challenges for longterm diplomatic relations. On one visit, the Federation might be talking to an Emelian phase working on major regional uplift projects; on another, the planet might have gone silent for private reflection; on another still, the planet might be in a "nature" phase and just want everyone to enjoy the moment. Enterprise-D needs to find a way to stay in contact with them all.

@MLClark

Oh, that's perfect!

I feel strongly that Deanna may be able to help discern which phase may be available for diplomatic talks at any given time.

@LiseL

πŸ˜ƒ A perfect B-plot tie-in! The Enterprise D is currently shuttling Lwaxana between her own diplomatic missions while called to act on this Federation priority task, and what first seems like a nuisance guest amid all the phase-shifters ultimately leads to the discovery that helps Geordi develop a sensor array modified to detect what empaths already can about phase-shifted brainwaves. :) Everyone wins and shares in an Emelian mud bath in the end.

Thanks, partner! Brilliant addition. πŸ€—

@MLClark

I think you did all the creative work there, but sure, I'll happy to be along for the ride. 😁

Yes, this is the perfect mission for Geordi.

YES, Lwaxana is always a nuisance, but a beloved one (even if Picard has to make himself scarce), and we know she *loves* to share a mud bath with a friend.

Love it. 🧑 πŸ––

@MLClark We are the Homebirds, we generally stay on our own planet but we have detected anomalies within the crew, and have come to gently fix them. Unfortunately, our intentions have been misunderstood, and we are seen as an invading enemy. As much as we try to heal the crew and the plant life in hydroponics, the ship tries to kill us. Fortunately Guinan recognises us as persuades Jean Luc to fight with the ship's controls to let us be. And so we go on to bring peace, love, and light once more.
