Just a meditative newsletter today - and I'll have another light one for paid subscribers tomorrow.

This one reflects on the recent seasons of our world, and how easy it is to forget all the lessons we've supposedly learned from one year to the next.

It's no easy thing, living in the moment in a way that expands to include our past and future changes... but it might be a great comfort to us, when bracing ourselves for what might feel like the end of things right now.

@MLClark "Call the Midwife" is currently in Season 13 (1969, I believe). They're already contracted through Season 15.

If you want a hint of where future seasons may go, here's a page on the history of U.K. midwifery. Regulatory changes are coming, if they stick to the history, which so far they have.

@MLClark This is another good article ...

"In 1974, however, midwifery care changed for good. Local authorities no longer employed district midwives or ran clinics or welfare centres. Their work was subsumed into the NHS and run by hospitals."

So I think they have five more years and then Nonnatus House is "sucked off," so to speak. 😉 👻
