I slept for the vast majority of the last two days. Still have a fever, chills, sore throat, and low energy, but I feel I've nipped it from getting worse - and it hasn't descended to my lungs, thank goodness.

I'm staying in isolation until after the fever breaks, but once I'm healthier again, whew! My body's going to need a smacking good workout after all this bedrest, I tell you what!

@MLClark

Good to see you resurface.

Maybe take a lesson from some other CoSoNauts recently who pushed too hard too soon and relapsed :)

@ceorl

"some other CoSonauts"

I will honour the anonymous origin of such good advice. ;)

@MLClark You are doing the right thing, which is what you always do. I wish I could fix it for you, but in the meantime enjoy hiding under the covers sleeping the day away. You've earned a break.

@WordsmithFL

Thank you for the Ghosts rec!

I started on US, then switched to UK, which I'm enjoying more--but what fun, to see the regional differences in two versions of the same show made in such close proximity.

So much good food for writerly thought! Differences in episode & season length, plus character types & regional politics, show how much variation can emerge around the same concept.

A little like VOY if we'd wrested it from Berman. ;)

It's been lovely comfort viewing, thank you.

@MLClark By now, you've probably seen that CBS recycled a lot of early story ideas from BBC. They eventually start to find their own ways. The BBC version just ended the series, so 🀐 , but in the CBS version Sam and Jay have been far more successful with the B&B than Alison and Mike ever were.

@MLClark In CBS, by the end of S2 Jay is keeping a list of "ghost rules" trying to understand how the universe works. Mike never did that.

I had an idea ... What if they filled a bucket with mansion dirt, put it in the back of a pickup, a ghost stands in it, and they drive it towards the ghost barrier? Because they're on mansion land, can they pass? πŸ€”

It's like Davey Jones in "Pirates" when he stands in the water bucket on land.

@WordsmithFL

That's what I'm loving about the BBC version - its attention to the many pragmatic slings and arrows of owning and trying to renovate and monetize an old home. :) It just feels a bit more grounded in reality outside the ghost business. But I'll revisit the US version in due course, especially with my writer-hat on.

@MLClark Oh, by the way, Mark Hamill has been quite vocal about appearing on CBS "Ghosts." With the strikes, who knows how far it's gone, but hopefully he appears in an S3 episode.

@MLClark
what crummy timing, hope you're over it quick
to a happier plaguefree '24!

@MLClark

I've been in bed too, not with a virus, but with similar symptoms while stopping meds. Not. Fun. Writing today's story snippet was a wild ride, lemme tell you, but I was strangely grateful for it being there. But if you're feeling horrible and need to skip tomorrow's, that's ok. It'll keep.

I really like @yesimfunny's explanation of what's going on. Out with the old, and in with the new, I say. Feel better soon. 🧑

@LiseL

πŸ«‚ I hope that recovery is going smoother for you today, Lise. Still feverish here, but getting into the rhythm of working upright, then vertical, then upright again. πŸ™ƒ

Also, I love @yesimfunny's explanation! Out with the old, on a truly deep and cleansing level for us all. πŸ€—πŸ’› Good riddance to a rotten year. Huzzah for beautiful people like you two, in the new.

@MLClark
I hope that fever is gone soon! Your best has been working so hard to shed this thing! After, you deserve a proper rest, gently bringing in a new year✨

I offer chicken soup for your recovery and much loveπŸ•ŠοΈ
