This phone doesn't have a great camera (not like the one I had before the robbery in February, alack), but the sunrise doesn't mind. This was a good start / return to routine. ๐ŸŒ„

Now home to get a million things done. ๐Ÿ˜…

@MLClark You're one hour behind us ... Your photo got me to thinking about you're in "winter" while we're in summer, relative latitudes, etc., and how our sunrises would compare if we took comparative sunrise photos every morning.

But then I realized this would prove nothing other than two random data points every day. ๐Ÿ™„

@WordsmithFL

Oh, no, we're still in the same hemisphere!

I'm a little above Medellรญn proper, which puts me at around 6ยฐ20โ€ฒ N. Equatorial living means a neat analemma (a bit "tipsy" or borracho ๐Ÿ˜‰), but no seasons in any meaningful sense of the term.

Still, I had to laugh at the "scientist" in your answer. Exactly right: two data points do not much significance make... except when those two points create an ansible for chums across long distances. ๐Ÿ™‚

@MLClark The only "science" I have is political "science" ... although it's really more of a dark art.

Shame on me for not knowing you're above the Equator. I even looked up the latitude before posting. No wonder I wound up in the social "sciences."

As I used to tell people, "If I can explain it to me, I can explain it to you." ๐Ÿค”

@WordsmithFL

Fellow PSCI here! It is indeed arcane. ๐Ÿ™ƒ Science policy was my focus, but I turned that via grad studies into an interest in literary histories of science, because I wanted to study how we told stories about our growing understanding of the world.

And honestly, after our conversations these past few months here? I feel more inspired than ever to turn my dissertation project into an accessible pop-history of how we grasped stellar evolution. So thank you for the motivation!

@MLClark We are each other's writing muse. ๐Ÿ˜˜ Although I am astounded by your mastery of language and vocabulary. At least once a day, I have to look up a word you use. Today's word was "ansible."

The PSCI degree has had applications throughout my career. When I did NASA education at KSC, few people asked techie questions. Most people wanted to know why certain political decisions were made. Most of my colleagues were more interested in telling you how many rivets are in the VAB. ๐Ÿ˜ด
