I'm in an odd spot. I'm able to care for many, but I'm in no position to help myself. I'm an immigrant in constant precarity, and also not at all the most vulnerable of immigrants in the world (or of people living in the land of their own birth, for that matter). /x
@MLClark I appreciate reading your thread. Thank you for being real. It’s so relatable, feeling conflicted with things as they are, currently. We may experience them in different ways but many of us feel this. I imagine being an immigrant adds layers. if you don’t feel as vulnerable as others, it doesn’t diminish the validity of your experiences or struggles. It’s frustrating and often disheartening when we know our capabilities but find ourselves with our own challenges. You’re not alone.
Many of the truths you post move me to tears, and this is no exception. Thank you for seeing me.
I am acutely aware that my struggles do not rank against those who are born immediately into estranged identities within their own true birthrights, and those who have migrated in far more desperate straits than my own. I try very hard not to take up the space others so urgently need.
But thank you all the same for your presence for my far lesser struggle than many. You are so very kind.
@MLClark imho, no need to compare your struggles to anyone, although I understand the temptation to do so. Does any thinking /feeling person not? I’m honored if something I say resonates. We’re all just moving through life and usually trying to do our best with what experience, knowledge or tools we’ve acquired through our own struggles. What I mean to say is that what you’re saying is important and it resonates with me. I hope speaking your truth gives you some deserved peace of mind
